Danger Farms were brought in to create the MVP of ThriveCV; an exciting startup focused on a video CV solution for graduates. This innovative product aimed to foster a more human connection between recruiters and graduates.
The original concept our client came to us with was to enhance recruiters' understanding of graduates' personalities and soft skills through video-based profiles and the ability for candidates to respond to video tasks posed by employers. Simultaneously, the platform aimed to make life easier for graduates by providing them a more human and intuitive way to showcase who they were.
"Danger Farms' customer-centric approach was outstanding. They extensively researched our customers, validated the platform idea, and actively sought feedback at every stage of development. Their iterative process allowed for continuous improvement"
In graduate recruitment, traditional methods were failing to reveal the full spectrum of candidates' personalities and soft skills. Conventional CVs left a void in truly connecting recruiters and graduates, leading to inefficiencies in the hiring process.
Our collaboration with ThriveCV sought to bridge this gap by creating an innovative video CV platform. The objective was clear: equip recruiters with deeper insights into candidate' soft skills and personalities while empowering graduates to express themselves authentically.
Our research began by delving into the experiences of two key stakeholders: recruiters and graduates. Recruiters expressed frustration over the challenge of identifying active candidates, sifting through applications, and managing interview scheduling. This user-centric research reaffirmed the limitations of conventional CVs in portraying candidates holistically.
To address these concerns, we followed a targeted approach in crafting the MVP. Users' preferences were prioritised through a 'buy a feature' exercise, ensuring that desired functionalities aligned with development feasibility and the overarching project timeline.
Our design solutions revolved around effectively resolving pain points. For recruiters, we introduced a 'last active date stamp' on candidate profiles and a filtering system centred on soft skills and interests assisted application sorting. On the graduate side a unified profile that eliminated redundant form-filling for multiple job applications. The mandatory inclusion of pay information and estimated response times greatly enhanced the application experience, driving efficiency.
As the MVP took shape through iterative sprints, core features and research-driven enhancements were integrated. The outcome was a comprehensive platform that enabled users to register as recruiters or graduates, complete interactive personal and company profiles, post jobs, apply for positions through interactive tasks, and efficiently discover and filter opportunities.
Our work with ThriveCV shows the potential of strategic research, user-centric design, and scalable development. ThriveCV's soft launch generated enthusiastic responses from hundreds of students. As the main launch approaches, we’re excited to see the effect ThriveCV will have on the future of recruitment.
